A simple upgrade of the living area in a 1950's beach house to neaten the space and create a better connection to the surrounding garden. A new large timber framed window was introduced to capture the morning sun and frame views of a line of native shrubs along the eastern boundary and a new glazed sliding door replaces an existing aluminuim window, opening the kitchen to the rear deck and garden in which sits a beautiful old oak tree. The sentimental value of the old house that has been owned by the same family for decades was respected with the re-use of the old kitchen cabinet doors on the front of the new pantry, the green colour of which matches the original paint colour that had been buried under sunbsequent layers of beige paint.
